Sheep Hills draws 31 pairs for memorial

Sheep Hills Golf Club has celebrated the 2025 edition of its Jan Jess Memorial Tournament.

On Sunday June 22, 22 men's pairs and nine women's pairs contested a 4BBB stableford.

The women's winners were Janice Midgley and Julie Bayles on 43 points, from Wendy Hewitt and Kaye Picken on 40 points on a countback.

Mary Massey and Casey Phelan finished third with 40 points, ahead of Paula Clark and Bid Hateley on 36 points.

In the men's section, Greg and Dan McKenzie were the victors, with 44 points.

Graeme Launer and Bryan Dufty were the runners-up with 43 points, separated by a countback from Ash Purdue and Dave Flannery and Kevin Lock and Leon Tink, also on 43.

In the non-handicap event, the men's winners were John Peters and Brad Holland (40 points) and the women's were Melissa Beattie and Faye Mills.

Nearest the pin prizes went to: men – 4th Mark Lovett; 7th Mark Anderson; 16th David Nitschke; women – 4th Shirley Liersch; 7th Kaye Picken; 16th Venita Valder.

The straightest drive by a man was won by Olo Cook and by a woman by Shirley Liersch.

The longest put winners were Glen Ross and Jenny Tink in the men's and women's divisions respectively.

Players participated from 10 clubs: Minyip, Millicent, Serviceton, Nhill, Warracknabeal, Medway, Dimboola, Horsham, Jeparit and Sheep Hills.
