Hindmarsh Shire Council has announced the appointment of Dimboola local Monica Revell as the new Chief Executive Officer.

Mayor Brett Ireland said Ms Revell was selected following a competitive recruitment process, which included a large number of high-quality applications, and multiple rounds of interviews.

Ms Revell has held numerous roles at Hindmarsh Shire since February 2011, including as council’s director corporate and community services for seven years and acting CEO for the past five and a half months.

Cr Ireland said Mrs Revell had a strong understanding of the challenges faced by rural and regional communities, having lived in Dimboola for almost 25 years and growing up in Horsham.

"We are very fortunate to have a person of Monica’s experience to take our shire into the future, she already knows the business thoroughly," Cr Ireland said.

"Monica has an unbridled passion for her community, staff and local government and the services it provides.

"I know she will excel in key areas such as increased advocacy for financial and infrastructure projects, a desire to improve community satisfaction across all areas of local government and an open and approachable manner to everybody.

"I look forward to Monica bringing her own stamp to our council and implementing new and exciting things for our communities.

"The shire is in good hands."

Mrs Revell offically took up the role on Monday, April 8.

“I am excited to accept this position and work closely with staff, the community, and council to deliver the vision, strategic objectives, and advocacy priorities for Hindmarsh Shire," she said.

Previous CEO Jessie Holmes, who was due to take up her position in October last year, resigned in February for medical reasons.

Ms Holmes had succeeded Greg Wood.
