Patchwork exhibition

The Hopetoun patchwork group welcomed almost 200 people to the biennial exhibition last weekend.

People travelled long distances to attend, coming from as far away as Geelong, Bendigo and Mildura and many other areas.

We can now officially claim to be the centre of everywhere.

There were many favourable comments about the display and the diversity of quilts and other craft items.

Karen Fuller worked tirelessly to coordinate every aspect of the weekend. Many members and partners also volunteered their time to make sure the event ran smoothly.

We were delighted that Bronwyn Walkley, the president of Victorian Quilters Inc, was able to come along, bringing with her the winning Suitcase Quilts of 2025. They were displayed on the stage and featured in the exhibition.

We would like to thank our two traders for coming along and generously contributing to the weekend.

Amanda from Mallee Magic in Rainbow and Maureen from Quilting Patch in Elmore (formerly Rochester).

Our members' trading table was well stocked. Some visitors thought the prices charged were too low and gave additional money as donations.

This money will be passed on to the Royal Children’s Hospital.

The quilt made by members for the raffle was won by Heather Huebner from Warracknabeal, and second prize, a voucher from Pam at Kaye’s Collection, was won by Fay Afford.

Proceeds from the raffle allow $400 to be donated to each of three local organisations: the Historical Society, the Powerhouse Arts Studio and the Memorial Hall.

We thank you all for your support.

– BEVERLEY FULLER
