New tool to assist with end of network
The Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association (AMTA) has launched a new web-based tool to help Aussies ensure they can weather the end of the 3G network.

The online tool is called Check my Device.
It is free to use and available to all Australians, on any mobile network, in 11 different languages.
Telstra and Optus customers can already text the number “3" to “3498", but Check my Device offers an alternative way of ensuring any device will still be operable after the 3G network closes.
All 3G and some 4G devices will be affected by the network closure, and it is critical that Australians act now.
Do not not delay checking and upgrading devices to ensure they remain fully supported on Australian mobile networks after the 3G networks close, and can still make emergency calls to Triple Zero.
Once your network provider has closed their 3G network, do not attempt to test your device by calling Triple Zero.
If you have an affected phone, the call may still go through, blocking access to real emergency callers, and endangering lives.
Check my Device can be found on AMTA’s website at www.3Gclosure.com.au
You will need to enter your device’s IMEI number which can be found printed within the battery cavity on most devices.
Power down your device and ensure it’s disconnected from any external power supply, remove the battery, and locate the 15 digit IMEI number.
For smartphones, call “🞻#06#” from the device and the IMEI will appear on the screen.
