Local history funding distributed
Digitisation of newspapers and photographs, memorial websites, digital and oral histories and archiving are just a few examples of projects eligible for state funding under the Victorian Community History Awards and Local History Grants Program.

Applications to the program will open again later this year.
In June Minister for Government Services Gabrielle Williams announced the projects that will share in $350,000 as part of the 2023-24 round of the local history grants.
Three local recipients were named.
Kaniva and District Progress and Action Association was awarded $14,882.75 for its Percy Leason Wiregrass project, the Nhill Silo Heritage Project was granted $3,334.20 for documenting and conserving the Nhill Noske Silo, and West Wimmera Shire Council received $1700 for "A history of Serviceton Railway Station" with Les Millikin.
Run by Public Record Office Victoria, the program supports community and history organisations to preserve, record and share Victoria’s local history.
