Leaders scale new heights in learning

Students from Lutheran primary schools in the Wimmera came together recently to enhance their leadership skills.

Students from Lutheran primary schools in the Wimmera came together recently to enhance their leadership skills.

Student leaders from St Peter's Lutheran School, Holy Trinity Horsham, Nhill Lutheran School to attend the camp, held at Tandara, Halls Gap, on February 26 and 27.

Held annually, the event equips attendees will skills to assist them in their roles as leaders of their schools.

They learned about the four "S" of leadership: servant leadership, significant qualities, spiritual leadership and support in leadership.

Students reflected on role models in their own lives and how they could be role models in their respective schools.

They looked at the importance of teamwork and trust and learnt how they could support their fellow students this year.

St Peter's Lutheran School captain Chelsea Elliott said she learned communication was a key part of working in a position of leadership and as part of a team.

The children participated in activities, including low ropes - the favourite part of the camp for Nhill Lutheran School's joint-captain Barrett Clark.

Holy Trinity captain Nixon Beattie said he enjoyed making new friends and attempting new tasks.

Nixon said he was looking forward to making a positive impact at his school by putting into practice the skills learned during the camp.
