Warrack Concrete welcomed their new plant and storage tower last week, saying the updated system will almost triple their storage space and double their production speed

The new powdered cement storage measures 17 metre high and holds 120 tonnes of product - over three times more than the old cement tower, installed by the Streeter family, which can only hold 45 tonnes.

Combined with a new batching system tower, it is expected to increase the operations capacity from 5.5 to 9 cubic metres of concrete per load.

The project has been two years in the making, and manager Ben Jenner said they now have the capability to mix a larger, more consistent product, and is more suitable for their largest concrete mixing truck which is capable of handling loads up to 8.5 cubic metres.

”It is all computer-controlled and -weighed, which will assist greatly in maintaining a consistent, quality product,” Mr Jenner said.

“We’ll keep the old cement tower until the new plant is operational, but I expect, once the new plant proves itself, the old system won't be needed anymore.”

Warrack Concrete proprietor Ross Johns said the company had a long standing history in the Wimmera and Mallee building scene, and the new plant would better serve the region.

“Ag projects are getting bigger, and with this in mind and quite a few big ventures on the way in the not too distant future, we are investing in that future,” Mr Johns said.

“We’re building on the legacy the Streeter family have created over the last 50 years in the district - something they, and we, can be proud of - and this new plant proves that we have confidence in the region and its future.”

The new tower and plant was built by Melbourne’s CEA Industrial, and work is continuing on the final stages of installation before it is fully operational.
