Community to shape sporting future
Community members, sporting clubs, user groups, and leagues from across the Hindmarsh Shire Council are invited to provide their input for the development of the shire's next 10-year sports strategy.

The Sport and Recreation Strategy 2025-2035 has six key elements: vision and goals, assessment of current facilities, priorities and actions, partnerships and collaboration, financial planning, and monitoring and evaluation.
Council and key stakeholders will be guided by this long-term strategic plan in developing and managing sporting and recreational facilities, opportunities, programs, and services within the shire.
Mayor Ron Ismay encouraged the community to complete the survey on the council's website to provide their insights.
"The 2025-2035 Hindmarsh Shire Sport and Recreation Strategy will serve as a roadmap for creating a thriving and active community throughout the Shire," he said.
"Irrespective of our age, gender or fitness levels, we are all aware that an active lifestyle through organised sports, active recreation or leisure-related activities provides opportunities for increased physical and mental health.
"To assist with the collation of information to establish the basis of the Sport and Recreation Strategy, we encourage residents to complete a community-based survey that will provide the council with valuable information to develop a draft strategy.
"To obtain a cross-section of data from the community, we are aiming for at least 200 responses to the survey."
The council's objective is to enhance community wellbeing, promote physical activity, and improve the overall quality of life for residents of and visitors to all towns of the shire.
The community can find the link to the survey on the Have Your Say Hindmarsh website on www.haveyoursay.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au.
